Sova Intelligence is the first known private detective bureau in Croatia and it has been working according to principle ‘to investigate, to find, to prove and to advice’ since 1998. Private investigators from our office, as graduate criminologists, have attended a number of specialized seminars in the field of business security, intellectual property protection and application of forensic knowledge.

We are security cleared for concluding Classified Contracts of the security classification level SECRET with the Croatian state authorities, NATO and EU bodies and the state authorities of NATO and EU member states.

1. What are the key activities of private detective?
A private detective is a type of private police officer whose actions are bound by the Act, the Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct. He is a data explorer and trusted advisor, just as our slogan says - "he investigates, finds, proves, consults". Private detective gathers data and evidence necessary for establishing the facts; he is allowed to follow people and to take picture in public place what greatly contributes to the ability to meet the requirements of the parties.

3. What steps shall undertake your detective bureau during the detective investigations?

The process of professional detective investigation consists of three stages:
- Studying the case and making work plan and cost estimates
- Gathering and processing of data, information and evidence
- Data processing and analysis, evaluation and application of results of detective investigation.


We make decisions together with you and advise you how to find optimal solution of a problem or to improve the efficiency of taking legal action to solve a problem.

4. When is the right moment to hire a private detective?

According to the principle of ‘normal, suspicious, dangerous’ there are three moments when a private investigator may be hired:
- As prevention, prior to investment, purchase, cooperation, initiation of lawsuits, etc.
- When complications and doubts, risk awareness and possible damage arise
- Following the consequences, harmful event or risk.

5. Can a private detective follow people?

Pursuant to Private Detective Act (Official Gazette 24/09) private detective may follow and observe people, facilities, vehicles and objects, and may take pictures of them.

6. Is the evidence gathered by a private investigator admissible in court?

Reports and evidence collected by detective during his investigation may be used in court. It is important to emphasize that the private detective is credible witness in court what is confirmed by the current case law.
